The impact of environmental stimuli on the psychological and behavioral compliance of international construction employees
Tengyuan Chang, Yi Wu, Xiaopeng Deng et al.|Frontiers in Psychology|2024
Cited by 10Open Access

Introduction: This study explores the overlooked psychological and behavioral dynamics of employees in compliance management, applying the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) framework to assess environmental stimuli's impact on employees in international construction projects. Methods: A scenario-based survey involving 270 international construction employees was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), focusing on the relationship between environmental stimuli and compliance intentions. Results: Findings categorize environmental influences on compliance into internal and external organizational dimensions, highlighting the significant impact of internal factors on compliance intentions. Key determinants identified for high compliance intention include individual traits and organizational climate, while project pressures, rules and regulations, and cultural differences show variable influence. Conclusion: This study enhances the understanding of the psychological factors driving non-compliant behaviors and introduces a binary micro-ecological approach to compliance management, effectively integrating individual and project organizational elements. In contrast to traditional corporate governance approaches, this strategy emphasizes the role of project organizational micro-ecology in the management of international construction projects. The strategy aims to improve compliance management among international contractors by influencing the psychological and behavioral compliance of frontline employees.

60-GHz CMOS 2 × 2 artificial-magnetic-conductor monopole on-chip antenna array for phased-array RF receiving system
Yi Wu, Chien-Chorng Chou, Wen-Yi Ruan et al.|Unknown|2014

This paper presents a 60-GHz CMOS 2 × 2 artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) monopole on-chip antenna array in 90-nm CMOS technology for phased-array RF receiving system. With the AMC structure, the radiation efficiency and power gain of the on-chip monopole antenna increases from 6% to 15% and from -9 to -5 dBi at 60 GHz, respectively. On-wafer beam steering measurement shows that the antenna-array main beam can scan to ±25° in the XZ plane. The chip size is 3.1 × 3.8 mm 2 .

Dupuytrens Contracture: Subacute onset after long-term antiepileptic drug use

Introduction: Dupuytren’s contracture (DC), which is associated with epilepsy, and the duration of antiepileptic drug (AED) therapy are hypothesized, but not proved, to account for the relatively uncommon musculoskeletal complications developed by epilepsy patients. DC is easily overlooked in clinical settings, and its presence might lead to unnecessary investigations and management. Case Report: A 38-year-old man who developed intractable generalized seizures after an episode of encephalitis visited our clinic. He had been prescribed numerous AEDs, and he remained on phenobarbital (330 mg/day), levetiracetam (3000 mg/day), and oxcarbazepine (1200 mg/day). We titrated the phenobarbital to 360 mg/day. The patient had a subacute onset of discomfort over his finger joints. The proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints of his bilateral long, ring, and little fingers were stiff, and multiple small joints were swollen and painful. X-rays showed that the joint spaces of his PIP and distal interphalangeal (DIP) joints had decreased. A series of biochemistry tests were unremarkable. After a comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation, we diagnosed him as having Boutonniere deformity in DC. His symptoms were attenuated after the phenobarbital dose was reduced to his baseline level. Conclusion: It is easy to overlook DC and to encounter incorrect diagnoses that lead to numerous unnecessary tests and treatments. When physicians treat a patient on long-term AEDs, especially high-dose phenobarbital, they should be aware
