Total Cross Sections of Nuclei for 90-Mev NeutronsTotal cross sections of H, D, Li, Be, C, N, O, Mg, Al, Cl, Cu, Zn, Sn, Pb, and U for 90-Mev neutrons have been measured, using the 184-inch cyclotron as a source and carbon disks as detectors. Experimental details are described, and a brief discussion of some of the theoretical implications of the results is given.
A Liquid Hydrogen TargetLeslie J. Cook|Review of Scientific Instruments|1951 A description is given of a target in which liquid hydrogen was bombarded with x-rays from the Berkeley synchrotron. The liquid hydrogen, in a stainless steel flask, was surrounded by an evacuated jacket containing a heat shield maintained at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. The liquid level was indicated by a counterweighted float system.
