Introduction: Thyroid cancer is responsible for 1% of all malignancies in the world and is the most frequent endocrine tumor. Several factors have been associated with elevated risk of well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma as the enviromental or professional exposure to radiation, previous benign thyroid disease as adenoma and multinodular goiter, hormonal factors, obesity, family history of cancer and iodine ingestion. objective: Identify high risk factors associated with well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Results: We analised 463 patients. 422 (91,1%) women, Average age 53 (from 13 to 85 years). Analising the groups according age, we verify a bigger proportion of welldifferentiated carcinoma in younger patients. Habits as tobacco use and etilism were also analysed without differences between the groups. When we analysed the body mass index (BMI) we verify a bigger incidence among the group with bigger BMI, although without statistic relevance. Conclusion: We did not verify statistic relevant difference among tobacco users, etilists, bigger body mass index as high risk factors for well-differentiated carcinoma. The prevalence of carcinoma was bigger among younger patients.
