~(99m)Tc-MIBI Scintimammography Imaging in Breast Tumors and Axillary Lymph Node Metastases
Abstract
Objective Evaluating 99m Tc MIBI scintimammography as an effective and noninvasive modality in differentiating benign from malignant breast tumors and in detecting axillary lymph node metastases. Methods 99m Tc MIBI scintimammography were performed in 36 women with palpable breast masses. All pathological results were obtained by excisional biopsy. Results 99m Tc MIBI scintimammography were positive in 18 of 22 breast carcinoma and 1 of 14 benign breast lesions. The sensitivity and specificity were 81.8% and 92.6%,respectively. 99m Tc MIBI breast imaging showed abnormal uptake in 8 of 13 axillary lymph node metastases. Conclusions 99m Tc MIBI scintimammography is a simple, accurate and noninvasive test in differentiating malignant from benign breast lesions and in detecting axillary lymph node metastases, and it can be widely used.
