CT diagnosis of tuberculosis of spine (An analysis of 48 cases)
Abstract
Objective: To study the characteristic fefitures in the CT diagnosis of tuberculosis of spine Methods: The CT images of 48 patients with tuberculosis of spine were analyzed retrospectively. Results: 48 cases were surgicopathologically proved. 24 cases indicated the destruction of vertebral bodies and 12 cases had paraver-tebral soft tissue masses. Vertebral canals were involved in 10 cases, 21 cases had vertebral disc destruction, and 20 cases had destruction of vertebral appendages. Conclusion: CT is superior to conventional roentgenography in the diagnosis of tuberculosis of vertebral column, and is especially valuable in the assssing the extend of body destruction, involvement of the spinal canal and existence of Para spinal soft tissue masses.
