Abstract

Abstract Ticks and the diseases they may transmit have gained attention in the last decades. Knowledge of their local distribution and the pathogens they may transmit are essential components to establish effective control measures. Concerns are raised on the proper identification of ticks, on the inappropriate method of reporting their presence, and on the consequences of using ill-founded datasets for predictive distribution and their impacts.
