Gas treating with chemical solvents
Abstract
This treatise provides in-depth coverage of a specific area of process technology: removal of acid gases from industrial gas mixtures. The coverage is divided into four parts. The first part serves to orient the reader with respect to current applications and typical situations requiring acid gas removal. Part II covers phases equilibria plus the chemistry of acid gas/solvent interactions. Models are developed for the simultaneous heat and mass transfer effects associated with reaction in the liquid phase. Part III comprises separate chapters on each of the acid gases considered (carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide) plus a chapter on mixed acid gas absorption. Part IV ranges through a number of topics, even including techniques for measuring gas solubility. In this part the limited amount of economic information is given.
