Abstract

PATIENTS with acromegaly have been thought to have a reduced life expectancy (Greene, 1951). Indeed Evans, Briggs, and Dixon (1966) noted that in 100 cases of acromegaly, 50 per cent had died before the age of 50 years, and 89 per cent by the age of 60 years.
